Sex trafficking judgment against Wall Street trader upheld

MANHATTAN — The Second Circuit affirmed a judgment against Howard Rubin, a Wall Street bond trader, who employed assistants to entice women “with promises of cash, fancy dinners, and first-class airline tickets to travel to his New York penthouse for sexual activity” and would, without their advance knowledge or consent, subject them to sadistic sexual treatment. The Trafficking Victims Protection Act permits punitive damages, and the evidence sufficed to award $3.85 million to six of his victims.
