CANANDAIGUA, N.Y. – The father of a college student who died after an accident at a wakeboarding park in New York cannot recover damages, a federal court in New York ruled.
Although state law allows parents to recover monetary losses for the death of a child, the father in this case is essentially seeking damages for the psychological benefit of having a family member perform certain services rather than paying someone.
