LITTLE ROCK (CN) - Perry County Sheriff Scott Montgomery and his minions harassed and intimidated voters to ensure his victory in the May 20 Democratic primary, 14 plaintiffs claim in Pulaski County Court. One plaintiff claims Perry refused to file a felony sexual assault claim against a man who fondled her 12-year-old daughter, because the mother supported Perry's opponent.
The owner of an auto shop claims Perry threatened to, and did, stop sending sheriff's vehicles to his shop because he supported Perry's opponent.
Another plaintiff claims that a sheriff's deputy promised to drop the investigation of her 19-year-old son, who allegedly touched a 14-year-old girl on the butt, if the mother supported Perry for sheriff.
Plaintiffs want a grand jury convened to indict the sheriff, and an injunction issued blocking his nomination. They are represented by Cheryl Barnard of Perryville, Ark.
