CRIMINAL PROCEDURE, ATTORNEYS - Defendant was convicted of aggravated malicious wounding with a firearm. Defendant was appointed substitute counsel when the court became aware that his original counsel was also representing a key witness in the shooting for unrelated drug charges.

The Virginia Court of Appeals found that the trial court properly dismissed defendant's counsel because there was a serious potential conflict of interest. Affirmed. Johnson v. Virginia
