Violent Pimp Gets 22 Years

SAN DIEGO (CN) - A violent pimp was sentenced to nearly 22 years in federal prison for forcing women into prostitution after smuggling them into the United States.

Adrian Zitlalpopoca Hernandez, 35, was sentenced to 262 months in prison for seven crimes, including coerced prostitution, harboring aliens for prostitution and human trafficking, the U.S. Attorney's Office said in a statement.

After romancing the two women separately in Mexico and smuggling them into the United States, Zitlalpopoca imprisoned them at homes in Vista and "drove them to secluded fields in the area where he would employ them in prostitution and maintain all of their proceeds," prosecutors said in the statement.

A jury convicted him in January 2010; he was resentenced Monday after appeal.

U.S. District Judge Roger Benitez told Zitlalpopoca at the resentencing that his crimes were among the "most evil" conduct the judge had ever heard.
