Vet jail suicide heads to trial

NEW ORLEANS (CN) — A Louisiana federal judge declines to dismiss negligence claims brought by parents of a pre-trial detainee, who was an Afghanistan war veteran with PTSD, against the allegedly understaffed parish jail where the veteran died by suicide. A jury could reasonably find he would not have died if the jail weren’t understaffed.
