(CN) – California Gov. Jerry Brown appointed Gilbert Romero to a judgeship in the Ventura County Superior Court. Romero, 40, fills a vacancy created by retirement of Judge Edward Brodie. A Democrat from Ventura, Romero earned his bachelor’s degree from California State University, Northridge, and his juris doctorate from the University of California, Hastings College of the Law. He has served as senior deputy district attorney at the Ventura County District Attorney’s Office since 1999. The judgeship comes with an annual salary of $178,789.
