Vancouver Whitecaps in|Fight Over Soccer Apparel

(CN) - The Vancouver Whitecaps soccer team inked a deal with Adias in direct violation of a contract with RMP Athletic Locker, which owns the Umbro brand of soccer apparel, RMP claims in Supreme Court of British Columbia.

The Ontario, Canada-based company claims the Whitecaps violated the terms of a sponsorship agreement that gives Umbro exclusive rights to outfit the team and sell Whitecaps logo apparel.

RMP also says the team violated the contract when it allowed Adias-made apparel to be sold at booths at Swangard Stadium, Sears retails stores, and on the team's website.

RMP seeks unspecified damages and an injunction barring the team from further violating the agreement.

The company is represented by David P. Church of Vancouver.
