Valentine’s note earns sex offender 2 more years in prison

SALEM, Ore. — The Oregon Court of Appeals upheld a final order from the board of Parole and Post-Prison Supervision that postponed a sex offender’s release for two years after he sent a female corrections staff member a note on Valentine’s Day that read: “If it’s not too much trouble- will you be my valentine?" Given defendant’s history of violence toward women and “problematic thinking patterns about romantic and sexual relationships with women,” the rule violation created a significant risk to the security of the institution.
