(CN) - More than 10,000 current and former employees of the Department of Veterans Affairs can proceed with a class action accusing the VA of stiffing them on weekend pay, the U.S. Court of Federal Claims ruled.
Civil service employees who work weekends typically earn what's called "additional pay," or their regular hourly wage plus 25 percent of that rate.
A group of employees said they did not receive additional pay when they took paid leave for weekend shifts.
The claims court allowed the case to proceed as a class action, saying class certification "will serve the interest of judicial economy."
