SAN FRANCISCO (CN) - The U.S. Secretary of Agriculture violated a slew of environmental laws by deregulating a sugar beet strain genetically engineered by Monsanto to resist glyphosate aka "Roundup" herbicide, the Center for Food Safety claims in Federal Court. Plaintiffs say that after a "cursory and wholly inadequate" environmental study, weeds too will become Roundup-resistant and require "ever more hazardous herbicides despite their ill effect on the environment, workers and consumers."
