TUCSON (CN) - The U.S. Forest Service illegally approved Vane Minerals' uranium drilling project in Kaibab National Forest next to the Grand Canyon, the Center for Biological Diversity claims in Federal Court.
The Forest Service late last year approved drilling of 39 holes in the Tusayan Ranger District, next to the Grand Canyon National Park's South Rim.
Plaintiffs say the rigs, tractors and drilling will hurt wildlife, ground and surface waters and human users of the Grand Canyon.
