UPS Driver Charged With Stealing Guns

RIVERSIDE, Calif. (CN) - A United Parcel Service truck driver was arrested Friday on federal gun-trafficking charges, accused of stealing dozens of guns going through a UPS hub and selling them on the black market through a crony.

Curtis Hays, 36, of Rancho Cucamonga, was arrested Friday afternoon by Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms agents.

His co-defendant, Dennis Dell White Jr., 35, of Moreno Valley, will be summoned to appear for arraignment, the U.S. Attorney's Office said.

The 16-count indictment, filed on July 23, claims that Hays stole several packages that were to be delivered to a gun shop in Rancho Cucamonga. He also is accused of stealing jewelry and mobile phones that were to be delivered to other stores, which he also gave to White, the U.S. attorney said.

Both men are charged with conspiracy, six counts of theft of firearms, six counts of receiving and possessing stolen guns, and two counts of theft, receipt and possession of goods in interstate commerce. White also is charged with being a felon in possession of firearms.
