Unrest in the Blogosphere

LOS ANGELES (CN) - Celebrity gossip blogger Perez Hilton sued competing columnist and former Backstreet Boys publicist Jonathan Jaxson for slander, claiming Jaxson told national news outlets that Hilton manipulated Jaxson "in exchange for sex."

Jaxson told New York Post reporter Corynne Steindler that Hilton offered to give Jaxon the jump on celebrity gossip if Jaxson sent him "sex videos" of himself, Hilton claims in Superior Court.

Hilton's given name is Mario Lavandeira.

He claims that Hollywoodcrap.com published Jaxson's statement that Hilton used him as his "personal porn service."

He claims Jaxson started other defamatory rumors that were published at ABC online and on Jaxson's blog.

Hilton also claims that Jaxson posted Hilton's personal cell phone number on Jaxson's blog, and encouraged readers to call Hilton. Jaxon allegedly called the post Hilton's "late birthday present."

Hilton's complaint states that Jaxson's statements "are libelous because they ... insinuate that Lavandeira was manipulating Jaxson in exchange for sex and/or that the sex was not part of a consensual relationship".

Represented by Freedman & Taitelman, Hilton demands punitive damages.
