BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (CN) - The "winner" of a Honda Accord claims the dealership took back the prize after telling him he won the car as part of a sweepstakes promotion.
Robert Benton sued Tameron Honda and Strategic Marketing in Jefferson County Court, claiming they sent him a flyer with a game-piece key advertising the promotion. When he went to the dealership and his key unlocked the Honda, he says he was told he was a winner.
Several days later, Strategic allegedly called to say he did not win the car, but offered him $3,000 instead.
Benton says he wanted the car. He is represented by Scott Powell.
