HACKENSACK (CN) - Conopco/Unilever sued Chianti Cheese Co. for more than $1 million, the cost of recalling Unilever's "Bertolli Meatballs Pomodoro & Penne with Peppers and Onions in a Tomato Basil Sauce" in March 2006. Unilever claims in Bergen County Court that Chianti failed to disclose the presence of an egg allergen in hundreds of thousands of pounds of the cheese it supplied, necessitating the recall, destruction and loss of goodwill.
