UN Labor Report

GENEVA — Releasing its World Employment Social Outlook on Wednesday, the International Labor Organization found a slight worldwide drop in unemployment last year, down to 5 percent from 5.1 percent in 2017. 

But the report also underscores the lack of opportunities, falling job security and declining quality of work that permeate the global marketplace.

Most of the 3.3 billion people with jobs have "inadequate" work conditions, job security and "material well-being,” according to the report. Furthermore 700 million people among those employed live in "extreme or moderate poverty."
