Uber sues Colorado over pay transparency laws

DENVER — Ride-hailing giant Uber says two Colorado laws aimed at improving pay transparency for rideshare drivers violate its free speech rights and “compel Uber to speak the state’s preferred message.” The laws, set to take effect in February, require rideshare companies to tell drivers the total amount of money a passenger pays for a ride and tell passengers the total amount of money a driver receives for a ride or face a $1,000 fine per violation.
