U.S. Studios Accused Of Dumping| Toxins In Canadian Loos

NEW WESTMINSTER, B.C. - A Canadian film studio accused a slew of Hollywood studios, producers, directors and actors of contaminating studio property with paint and toxic solvents while filming television shows and movies. Defendants include Paramount Pictures, Touchstone Pictures, Twentieth Century-Fox Television, directors Brian De Palma and James Cameron, and actor Jon Voight.

The plaintiffs, Thandi Group Holdings and River Studios, claim that while working on films such as "Mission to Mars" and "Bulletproof Monk," the defendants' employees disposed of paints, solvents and other toxic materials in studio sinks and toilets. Plaintiffs demand cleanup costs and unspecified general damages. They are represented by Ian Kinman of Kinman Mulholland.
