(CN) - The Department of Homeland Security plans to allow certain Mexican nationals to stay within 55 miles of the U.S. border, without obtaining a Form I-94 Arrival/ Departure Record.
This is an increase over their having to stay within 25 miles of the border, previously.
The rule would apply to certain nonimmigrant Mexican nationals presenting a Border Crossing Card, or other proper immigration documentation.
The intent of the rule is to promote commerce and tourism in southern New Mexico.
