U.S. Seeks Cleanup Costs for Tainted Acquifer

OMAHA, Neb. (CN) - The government wants Morrison Enterprises and Cooperative Producers to reimburse it for the costs of cleaning up a contaminated aquifer that supplies drinking water to the residents of Hastings, Neb. The aquifer is on a national list of hazardous waste sites posing the greatest threat to health, welfare and the environment, according to the federal complaint.
