U.S. Sanctions Against North Korea Extended

WASHINGTON (CN) - President Barack Obama has extended for a year provisions of an executive order issued by former President George W. Bush freezing the assets of North Korean entities and officials involved in North Korea's program to produce weapons-grade nuclear material.

Executive Order 13466 was singed by President Bush in 2008 and has been extended each year since.

The order also bans U.S. entities and individuals from leasing, owning or insuring ships that are registered to fly the North Korean flag.
