U.S. Owes Landowners |$34 Million For Property

WASHINGTON (CN) - The government owes Kentucky landowners more than $34 million in restitution for taking about 35,000 acres in 1942 to establish an Army training camp during World War II, and then selling the land's natural resources for "tens of millions of dollars" without adequately compensating landowners, the Court of Federal Claims ruled.
