U.S. Citizen Says DHS Deported Him

PHOENIX (CN) - The Department of Homeland Security deported a man though it had proof he had been a naturalized citizen for nearly 20 years, and he spent 2 months on the street in Mexico, eating out of garbage cans, the man says. When he re-entered the country, the DHS maliciously prosecuted him for "falsely claim(ing) to be a U.S. citizen" and imprisoned him for 4 months, until it admitted its error, Hector Platt Gutierez claims in Federal Court.

Platt is represented by Nicholas Hentoff.
