Two counts reversed for animal rights activist

SAN FRANCISCO — An appeals court in California reversed two of three trespass-related counts against an animal rights activist who was convicted in 2023 for protesting two Sonoma County poultry farms. The trial court had limited what evidence he could present to the jury in error, undermining his mistake-of-law defense. The activist is currently facing trial in Wisconsin for trying to remove beagles from a breeder in March.
