AURORA, Colo. - Twelve people were killed and dozens injured today when a man in a gas mask set off a gas canister and opened fire in a movie theater during a midnight premiere of the new "Batman" movie, police said.
Police arrested a suspect and identified him as James Holmes, 24, according to wire reports.
Witnesses said the man stood at the front of the theater and just kept shooting.
At least 24 people were being treated at hospitals, according to The Associated Press.
Aurora is a suburb of Denver.
