Tuition benefits

SHERMAN, Texas — A federal court in Texas granted the Young Conservatives of Texas Foundation summary judgment on its preemption claim against two university officials in its suit challenging a state law that requires U.S. citizens who don’t meet state residency requirements to pay a higher rate of college tuition than undocumented students who meet such requirements. The Texas law is preempted by the Illegal Immigration Reform and Immigrant Responsibility Act of 1996.
