Tucson PD Accused Of Boneheaded Acts

TUCSON (CN) - The Tucson Police Department left a package of explosives in a 7-year-old first-grader's desk during a training exercise, and the next day, Blenman Elementary School's principal called police after the suspicious package was found, and police arrested and terrified the boy into confessing that he had brought it; then the cops went to work on the kid's siblings and parents, the parents claim in Pima County Court.

The parents claim the Tucson Police Department's Bomb Squad left the explosives in their son's desk on the night of Oct. 30, 2006, then arrested him and had him sent home from school on Oct. 30. They claim the cops interrogated their other children, and the parents, and searched their home without a warrant after frightening them into consenting to the illegal search.

They demand punitive damages for civil rights violations, excessive force, false imprisonment, emotional distress, negligence and other charges. They are represented by Charles Hamm.
