(CN) - Donald Trump won the South Carolina primary as expected Saturday, and Hillary Clinton prevailed over Bernie Sanders, but the big news was that Jeb Bush withdrew from the race after finishing fourth.
With all votes counted in South Carolina, Trump had taken 33 percent, 10 points ahead of Marco Rubio's 23 percent, and Ted Cruz's 22 percent. Bush was fourth, with 8 percent, slightly ahead of John Kasich with 7.9 percent and Ben Carson's 7.3 percent.
Bush announced he was suspending his campaign just after 9 p.m., leaving the Republicans, for all intents and purposes, in a three-way race.
Trump won at least 34 and may take all 50 of South Carolina's delegates for the Republican nomination.
Rubio's showing was seen as a comeback after a poor showing in the New Hampshire primary. He benefited from endorsements from leading South Carolinia political figures, including Gov. Nikki Haley, Sen. Tim Scott and Rep. Trey Gowdy.
The Democratic race remains contested, as Hillary Clinton took 19 Nevada delegates Saturday to Sanders' 15, and led by 52.7 to 47.2 percent, with 95 percent of the results counted.
Clinton thanked her Nevada staff at their campaign headquarters Saturday night. She led Sanders by 25 points in the polls just five weeks ago, and stood off his challenge, fueled particularly by young voters, to defeat him by 5.5 percent of the votes.
"Some may have doubted us but we never doubted each other," Clinton said.
Sanders congratulated Clinton on her victory and said he looked ahead to continuing his campaign.
"We probably will leave Nevada with a solid share of the delegates," Sanders said. "I want to thank the people of Nevada for their support that they have given us and the boost that their support will give us as we go forward."
