Truck stop off the hook

HOUSTON — An appeals court in Texas reversed the lower court’s order granting judgment to a trucking company against the Pilot Travel Centers chain of truck stops, which had sued to establish it did not need to obtain nonsubscriber insurance for the driver, formerly an independent contractor, before his workplace injury. Because a nonsubscriber insurance policy would not cover his injury, there is no evidence that Pilot could have caused any harm.
