SAN DIEGO (CN) - A Wackenhut "sergeant" working on contract for the Border Patrol's Chula Vista station was sentenced on Friday to 18 months in federal prison for taking a bribe to try to spring a detainee. Also on Friday, a Border Patrol agent pleaded guilty to injuring a civilian in a road rage incident.

In the first case, Christopher Lucero, 35, of San Diego, had pleaded guilty to transporting illegal aliens for financial gain.

In the second case, Joaquin Ayala pleaded guilty to deprivation of civil rights under color of law. Ayala assaulted and injured another driver between San Diego and Escondido.
