BELLEVILLE, Ill. (CN) - A state trooper talked on a cell phone and was driving 126 mph just before a crash that killed two sisters, two other women who were also hurt in the November 2007 accident claim in St. Clair County Court. Kelly and Christine Marler made the allegations against Trooper Matt Mitchell in an amended complaint.
The Marlers say Mitchell's vehicle crossed the median and slammed head-on into a car containing Jessica Uhl, 18, and Kelli Uhl, 13, killing both.
Mitchell has pleaded not guilty to two counts each of reckless homicide and aggravated reckless driving.
