TRICARE to Pay for |More Cancer Tests

WASHINGTON (CN) - The Defense Department plans to implement a law authorizing military insurance payment for breast cancer screening and cervical cancer screening for female beneficiaries of TRICARE, instead of constraining the testing to mammograms and Papanicolaou smears.

This rule is meant to ensure new breast and cervical cancer screening procedures can be added to the TRICARE benefit as such procedures are proven to be a safe, effective, and nationally accepted medical practice.
