WASHINGTON (CN) - The U.S. Coast Guard closed part of the Chicago River July 27 and Aug. 8 to avoid "serious injuries or fatalities" to the public or damage to water craft, from stunt explosions during filming of the movie "Transformers 3."
The guard established two temporary safety zones near Chicago, Ill., one between the Lakeshore Drive Bridge and the Wabash Street Bridge, and one between the Dearborn Street Bridge and the Wabash Street Bridge, to keep people out of harms' way.
Much of the movie has been filmed in Chicago.
