Trade Group Agrees To Reveal Lobbying Payers

WASHINGTON (CN) - The National Association of Manufacturers agreed to disclose its funding members one day after Supreme Court Chief Justice John Roberts and the D.C. Circuit refused to stay enforcement of a new lobbying disclosure law.

The nation's oldest industrial trade association avoided a $200,000 fine by complying with the 2007 Honest Leadership and Open Government Act, but vowed to continue fighting the disclosure provision of the law.

The act requires trade groups to disclose the names of members who give more than $5,000 quarterly for lobbying activities.

Violations carry a $200,000 penalty and up to five years in prison.
