Tony Robbins Unleashes His Power Within

LOS ANGELES (CN) - Motivational speaker Anthony Robbins claims Stephen Pierce and Pierce's business, Impulsive Profits, misappropriated Robbins' name, falsely claim affiliation with Robbins, and secretly videotaped a speech from a Robbins seminar and are selling it without permission.

Robbins owns rights to his "Unleash the Power Within" and "Wealth Mastery" seminars. He claims Pierce advertises his businesses on the Internet by using Robbins' photo, without permission, accompanied by statements such as, "one-on-one phone coaching appointment with an Anthony Robbins Success Coach;" and "The people attending the event where [Robbins] spoke and this video was captured paid $8,000 to attend, but you can have access to that video without spending $8,000."

Robbins claims that Pierce made the following "clear admissions against interest" in an Internet posting: "Stephen was speaking at the Wealth Mastery Leadership bonus day ... And Stephen's wife, Alicia, used her small pocket camera and recorded almost 50 minutes of rare leadership training from Stephen's presentation. ... this truly is bootlegged video ..."

Robbins claims that Pierce posted this fraudulent statement on the Internet: "'To make this new opportunity work for you, Stephen had to get permission from Anthony Robbins Companies in order to record his speaking sessions at Wealth Mastery and make them available to you. This is actually a really big deal because this is one of the first times ever that one of the speakers from Wealth Mastery is being allowed to record their sessions and make them available for public sale.'"

Robbins' complaint continues: "The afore listed statements and representations are false and fraudulent. The Pierce Defendants were not granted permission from Robbins nor RRI to record the Wealth Mastery Seminar, and they were not granted license or permission to make copies of any portion of the Wealth Mastery Seminar available for public sale. Likewise, the Pierce Defendants have never been authorized to advertise or promote any purported coaching session with a 'Tony Robbins/Empowerment Wealth Coach' or an 'Anthony Robbins Success Coach.'"

Robbins demands punitive damages. He also sues Stephen Pierce International Inc. Pierce apparently lives in Michigan.

Robbins is represented in Superior Court by Brian Wolf with Lavely & Singer.
