Three Big Bankruptcy Filings in Delaware

WILMINGTON, Del. (CN) - Three big companies have filed for bankruptcy here, including onetime mattress Giant Simmons, prefab home manufacturer Champion Enterprises, and deCODE genetics.

Simmons listed $896 million in assets and $1.3 billion in debts. Also filing were affiliates World of Sleep Outlets, Windsor Bedding Co., Dreamwell, and other Simmons companies.

Champion Enterprises listed $577 million in assets and $521 million in debts. Affiliates also filing include Redman Homes, North American Housing Corp., New Era Building Systems, Homes of Merit, and Western Homes Corp.

deCODE genetics listed less than $100 million in assets and more than $230 million in debts, most of it to The Bank of New York.
