WASHINGTON (CN) - Here are links to texts of new bills in Congress that would affect the arts, the judiciary and taxes. S 2500, by Patrick Leahy, D-Vt., would "provide fair compensation to artists for use of their sound recordings." Click headline to see more bills.

S 2517, by Sen. Gordon Smith, R-Ore., would "amend the Internal Revenue Code of 1986 to provide that the proceeds of qualified mortgage bonds may be used to provide refinancing for sub-prime loans, to provide a temporary increase in the volume cap for qualified mortgage bonds.

S 2495, by Sen. Harry Reid, D-Nev., would "amend title 18, United States Code, and the Federal Rules of Criminal Procedure with respect to bail bond forfeitures."

S 2518, by Sen. Sam Brownback, R-Kan., would "amend the Internal Revenue Code of 1986 to simplify the individual income tax by providing an election for eligible individuals to only be subject to a simple, low-rate tax system on gross income with an individual tax credit."

And HR 4840, by Rep. Ron Kind, D-Wis., would "amend the Internal Revenue Code of 1986 to provide for S corporation reform."
