MILWAUKEE (CN) - A nonprofit group gave a 12-year-old cancer patient a free trip to Florida, where he drowned in a hotel swimming pool, his mother claims in Milwaukee County Court.
Angela Jefferson sued Children's Oncology Services of Michigan dba American Dream Flite, and Western World Insurance, on behalf of her late son, Terrell Travis. The Wisconsin Department of Health Services is listed as an involuntary plaintiff.
Jefferson says her son died in a pool at the Radisson Resort Orlando while he was being negligently supervised by American Dream Flite.
The Radisson is not a party to the case.
The child's mother filed her complaint in circuit court individually and on behalf of her son's estate.
American Dream Flite says on its Facebook page that it takes children with cancer to Florida every 18 months. The five-day trips include visits to DisneyWorld, Sea World, Universal Studios and Gatorland Zoo.
Terrell's mother seeks damages for costs and her son's pain and suffering.
She is represented by Todd Korb, with Hupy and Abraham.
