The More You Work, the Less You’re Paid

HACKENSACK, N.J. (CN) - A class action claims that Liberty Travel agency has a "diminishing overtime" system that paid travel agents "one-half an hourly rate that diminished with each additional overtime hour worked." Plaintiffs in three states claim that the more overtime they worked, "the less they were paid per hour."

The four plaintiffs worked at Liberty Travel outlets in Massachusetts, Maryland and New York.

They claim in Bergen County Court that some workers were paid overtime wages at all, but just straight time. They say the company has had the unfair overtime policy since 2002.

The class seeks lost wages and treble damages. They are represented by Patrick Monaghan Jr. of Montvale, N.J.
