Thanks a Lot, Cleveland

CLEVELAND (CN) - A homeowner claims city workers dug a big hole at the end of his driveway searching for a water valve and then patched it - but not very well - with blacktop. The next spring, Robert Rohfeld says, as he walked down the driveway to get his mail, he fell 2 feet into the hole, permanently injuring his knee and shoulder.

Rohfeld says he needed physical therapy for his injuries but still suffers from chronic pain.

He sued the City of Cleveland, the Cleveland Division of Water, and the City of Olmsted Falls in Cuyahoga County Court.

Rohfeld and his wife seek punitive damages for negligence and recklessness and loss of consortium. They are represented by Rachel May Weiser with Milano Weiser of Rocky River.
