Texas Pharmacist Fined $600,000

HOUSTON (CN) - A pharmacy owner will pay $600,000 for dispensing more than 20,000 prescriptions of controlled drugs between February 2006 and January 2007. It's the largest individual fine yet in the Southern District of Texas, federal prosecutors said. DEA investigators were tipped that Thomas Clark, of Spring, owner of 10 East Pharmacy, was ordering unusually large amounts of OxyContin and Xanax. Clark's state pharmacy license was revoked.
