Texas Officer Arrested on Robbery Charge

HOUSTON (CN) - The U.S. Attorney's Office announced Tuesday that FBI agents arrested police officer Michael Tindall of Conroe, Texas, on the charge that he robbed a bank. An unsealed federal criminal complaint accuses the 23-year veteran police sergeant of stealing more than $28,000 from the First Bank of Conroe on Aug. 11, 2008.

Tindall was off duty, but allegedly monitored a police radio the day of the crime. According to the complaint, he walked into the bank wearing a white motorcycle helmet and demanded money from the clerks.

Tindall is scheduled to appear before a U.S. magistrate on March 25. If convicted, he faces up to 20 years in prison and a $250,000 fine.
