Texas JP Says Political Rivals|Maliciously Prosecuted Him

TYLER, TEXAS (CN) - A former justice of the peace sued Wood County in Federal Court, claiming political rivals defamed and maliciously prosecuted him on bogus perjury charges.

Larry David Pack claims that when the grand jury refused to indict him, the district attorney accused him of making false statements to the grand jury, though his testimony - illegally - had not been recorded.

Pack claims his political rival, district attorney Marcus Taylor, used false testimony to convict him of aggravated perjury, which conviction was overturned on appeal.

It all began, Pack says, when he reported in good faith to Child Protective Services that a school district employee told him that another Wood County politico was suspected of sexually abusing a child.

Pack demands punitive damages. He is represented by Ben Martin of Dallas.
