Terrorism Insurance

WASHINGTON (CN) – Events covered by “terrorism” insurance subsidized by the federal government now include acts of domestic terrorism, according to new Treasury regulations.
Acts which are part of “an effort to coerce” the U.S. population, or influence the U.S. government by coercion no longer have to be committed by a person acting on behalf of a foreign person or foreign interest to be covered by the Terrorism Risk Program.
Under the program, the federal government shares the risk with commercial property and casualty insurers for covered losses.
