Terror-Related Charge|Added in San Diego

SAN DIEGO (CN) - A San Diego man whose brother was killed fighting for ISIS in Syria was arraigned Monday on federal charges of lying to the FBI during its terrorism investigation.

Douglas McCain is believed to have been killed in Syria sometime on or before Aug. 26, 2104. His 33-year-old brother, Marchello McCain, was arrested in January this year and charged with being a felon in possession of guns and ammunition.

A superseding indictment charged him with three more counts, including possession of body armor by a violent felon, the U.S. Attorney's Office said.

A second superseding indictment was unsealed Monday, accusing him of lying to the FBI about his brother's travel to Syria and using his credit card to buy his brother's airline ticket to Turkey.

He is being held without bond.
