Teen suing doctors over psych ward stay

NEW ORLEANS — A federal court in Louisiana allowed a 13-year-old girl and her family to add two doctors to their suit against a school board, law enforcement and a children’s hospital alleging they unlawfully removed her from school and detained her for three days in a psychiatric ward without her parents’ consent. School officials say she told counselors that she was experiencing hallucinations and dreams of self-harm; her lawsuit describes her as an honors student with no medical history who made “an offhand joke.”
