JACKSON, MISS. (CN) - A high school teacher asked for the password to a student's Facebook page, and then circulated information from the page to other teachers and school administrators to embarrass, punish and humiliate the girl for a discussion she had had with another student through the site, the girl's parents say in a constitutional claim in Federal Court.
The parents sued the Pearly Public School District and administrators and teachers at Pearl High School. The brouhaha involves members of the cheerleading team. The family also alleges conspiracy, defamation, emotional distress and cruel and unusual punishment. They are represented by Rita Nahlik Silin.
