Teacher Ran Wild, Girl’s Mother Says

GREENEVILLE, TENN. (CN) - Carter County Board of Education teacher Jonathan McClain sexually harassed a 14-year-old student, text messaging her up to 50 times a day, asking her to kiss him and date him, and placed sexually explicit movies in her lunchbox, and the school refused to investigate him because his brother was principal of Hampton High School and his father was chairman of the Board of Education, the girl and her mother claim in Federal Court.

The mom says that among the offensive messages McClain sent her daughter were these: "You could be a model"; "If we could be alone, would you kiss me?"; "I love you"; "Me and my wife are not doing that well"; "If you were eighteen, would you date me?"; "I wish that I was your age so that I could hold your hand and give you hugs"; and "My relationship with my wife hasn't been the same since the baby was born."

The mom claims McClain pleaded no contest to a Class A misdemeanor, for placing sexually explicit, R-rated movies in her daughter's lunchbox.

She says that when she complained of McClain's predations to the Director of Schools Dallas Williams, "Mr. Williams stated, 'We are not investigating this.'"

She adds: "At all times relevant, Defendant McClain's brother, Danny McClain, was the principal of the Hampton High School and his father, Charles McClain, was Chairman of the Carter County Board of Education."

The mother and daughter demand punitive damages for battery, emotional distress and civil rights violations. They are represented by Brian Schuette of Bowling Green, Ky.
