LOS ANGELES (CN) - A middle school teacher in Covina was arrested after meeting an undercover agent in his classroom to watch child pornography, federal prosecutors said.
John David Boyle, 49, of Glendora, was arrested Wednesday "after investigators determined that he was distributing child pornography via the Internet" and "may have molested children," the U.S. Attorney's Office said in a statement.
Boyle is, or was, a teacher at Royal Oak Middle School in Covina. Some of his online "chats" with the undercover agent are cited in the criminal complaint.
"Boyle set up an in-person meeting with the undercover agent in his classroom at the school on Sunday, believing that the purpose of the meeting was to engage in sexual activity while watching child pornography together," prosecutors said in the statement. "When the undercover agent arrived and presented Boyle with child pornography, he took possession of it. At that time, other agents entered the classroom to interview Boyle."
Officials said there may be victims. Anyone with information may call 1-866-347-2423 or contact http://www.ice.gov/exec/forms/hsi-tips/tips.asp .
Distribution of child pornography is punishable by 5 to 20 years in federal prison.
